Paver Patio Installation in Anthem
The situation
This front yard corner sits where the house's stucco wall meets the property's block wall, right off the driveway — the kind of leftover space that's easy to walk past. Before this project, it was covered in loose landscape rock and doing nothing for the property except taking up room. The homeowner's ask was simple: replace the rock with a real paver patio large enough to actually sit out and enjoy, built around the wooden bench they wanted to keep. In Anthem, where HOA landscaping standards run stricter than almost anywhere else in the valley, that also meant the finished hardscape had to look intentional and tidy, not like pavers dropped into a leftover corner.
The work
Crew pulled out the existing rock and stripped the corner to bare soil, then excavated and compacted a road-base aggregate layer in lifts rather than one pass — the same paver installation base-prep standard used on every RedGator patio, walkway, and driveway install, because skipping it is what causes pavers to shift, sink, or crack as expansive desert soil moves between summer heat and cooler winters. The base was graded for drainage away from the house and the block wall before a single paver went down. Blended concrete pavers were then laid tight to the existing bench, finished with a soldier-course border along the driveway edge and polymeric sand swept into the joints to lock the whole patio in place.
The result
What was an unused, rock-covered corner is now a finished paver patio the homeowner can furnish and actually use — the bench that used to sit against gravel now anchors a real seating corner instead of leftover space. Because the base was compacted and graded correctly, this patio is built to handle the same ground movement and heat cycling that causes most of the paver failures RedGator gets called out to fix elsewhere in the valley, and it should hold up for years with nothing more than an occasional joint-sand refresh.
